Stormy Water Solutions is a micro business. But they punch well above their weight. They are recognised industry leaders in drainage and water sensitive urban design, producing drainage strategies and designs which feature in subdivisions all over Melbourne, Victoria and Australia. Their training courses are the only long term, consistent training program in Victoria which targets the underlying requirement that all drainage practitioners need to understand the Drainage and WSUD technical calculations, modelling and design basics. The development industry has (and continues to) rely on Stormy water solutions providing this training, so that required excellent outcomes are achieved on the ground, both now, and well into the future.

Nathaniel is a key contributor to both internal and external support functions, fostering technical growth in SMEC’s Urban Graduate Development initiative, spearheading HECRAS training for Urban Developments, and leading the Urban Engineering team’s 12d support group. Past roles include a YEiLD (Young Engineers in Land Development) representative and a 4-year tenure on the UDIA Outlook committee.
This is a really exciting award that recognises a Young individual (Under the age of 35 at the end of this year) who has made their mark on improving the vision and culture of land development engineering.

The overall Winner of the ALDE Awards for Excellence – Engineering Excellence and Innovation is Tonkin + Taylor!
For this innovative win, T+T embarked on the challenging task of designing a filling strategy, testing and monitoring ground settlement for the Lilydale project, which is transforming the former quarry into a new residential community – Kinley. This project requires the filling of a 120m deep pit while ensuring ground behaviour is suitable for construction works. The transformative ground settlement monitoring system was T+T’s novel solution to this challenge.
This award recognises excellence and innovation. This can be achieved through many different routes – for example, achieving better outcomes in a different way to a standard process, inventing something completely new or applying existing technology or process to solve a problem; this creating an optimised product.

Blue Frog Design is an accomplished electrical and communications engineering consultancy firm specialising in distribution design and project delivery. They have a proven track record and in-depth knowledge in the design and delivery of overhead, underground, substation and public lighting electrical projects as well as NBN/communications projects.
This award recognises excellence displayed by a Supporting Consultants (Supporting a General Member / Civil Consultant) or supplier in the land development industry.
