Abstract submissions close on Thursday 30 November 2023

By now you may have started to prepare your abstract for consideration in the ALDE 2024 Conference program. The submission deadline is only 4 weeks away, so why not set aside 20 minutes to complete your submission and submit it by the end of the week?

The Conference will be held at Mantra Lorne, on Tuesday, 20 and Thursday, 21 August 2024.

We are welcoming and encouraging submissions on the various areas involved in land development, including:

  • Effective Site Management
  • Smart Software Use
  • Collaboration with Land Development
  • Innovative Design

Presentations are invited that address the theme: ‘Connecting the Pieces: Crafting the Future of Land Development’ and explore one of the following streams that were listed above.

The Call for Abstracts Guidelines will provide you with all the information you require to prepare your submission and also include some ‘thought starters’ for your abstract within each of the four streams.

Conference presentations will be offered as 30-minute concurrent sessions. Abstract submissions must be made through the online submission portal by Thursday, 30 November 2023.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts are being sought in the following Conference streams:

  • Effective Site Management
  • Smart Software Use
  • Collaboration with Land Development
  • Innovative Design

Presentation Type

The ALDE 2024 Conference will feature concurrent presentations of 25 minutes duration with an additional 5 minutes allocated for questions.

The following guidelines apply for the submission of abstracts for all concurrent presentations.

All abstracts must be submitted via the online Abstract Submission Portal.
In total, abstracts should be no more than 400 words in length. Abstracts exceeding this limit will not be considered.
Submissions must include a biography of the presenter/s of up to 200 words. Submissions not including a biography of the presenter will not be considered.

The ALDE Annual General Meeting will be held Wednesday 20th September 2023 from 5.45pm (for a 6pm seating) until approx. 9.00pm.
The meeting is open to all General Members only and will be held at the Wine House in Southbank.

All General members of ALDE are invited to nominate a representative for a position on the Executive Committee for 2023/2024. We are seeking Executive committee members that wish to play an active role in setting the direction of the Association and its activities.

Participation on the Executive Committee provides professional development and networking opportunities.  Nominees should take note of the following:

  • Executive committee meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month, from 4.30pm to approx. 6.30pm.  Most meetings will be held via Microsoft Teams although other locations may be used, typically the office of the residing President for face-to-face meetings. Executive committee members are expected to attend the majority of these monthly meetings.
  • All Executive committee members are expected to play an active role in Association activities and will be required to undertake a specific role or task, including participation on a subcommittee. This will require attendance or involvement in meetings or teleconferences outside of the monthly executive committee meetings. Subcommittee meetings are typically held via zoom (or MS Teams) at a commonly agreed time by its members.
  • All nominees who wish to apply for a position on the Executive Committee are required to be a financial General Member of ALDE for the 2022/2023 financial year. If you wish to verify your financial status, please get in touch
Nominations for the Executive Committee must be completed and returned to the ALDE office via email by 5pm Thursday 13th September.   

In conjunction with Stormwater Victoria, ALDE members can register for specialist training through a webinar about Erosion Sediment Control.

This must attend webinar explains why Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) on construction and building sites is as important as Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) to protect environmental values and deliver sustainable development outcomes.

We all know the General Environmental Duty (GED) puts the onus on individuals and business to prevent environmental harm before it occurs but what does this look like as practical on-ground ESC solutions?

Hear from experts drawn from research and industry on the latest advancements in ESC policy and best practice from across Australia and how these apply in the Victorian context.
